🌿 A Place Where Nature Breathes – Suncheon Bay National Garden
Hello there! 😊
Today, I’d love to share my trip to one of the top travel destinations in Suncheon, South Korea — Suncheon Bay National Garden.
It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, a place where you can walk slowly and breathe in nature.

🌼 What is Suncheon Bay National Garden?
Suncheon Bay National Garden was created as a result of the 2013 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo. It is Korea’s very first national garden, and it's huge — covering an area of about 1,120,000㎡! Honestly, one day isn’t enough to explore it all.
It’s known as an ecological tourism site along with the nearby Suncheon Bay Wetland Reserve. The garden is divided into several themed zones, including the World Garden Zone, Korean Garden, and the Lake Garden.
This place is far more than just a "park" — and even calling it a "garden" doesn't do it justice. It's over twice the size of Yeouido in Seoul and filled with themed gardens from various countries, exhibition halls, forests, and a peaceful lake.
As soon as I entered, I noticed the air felt different — fresh and clean. Walking under the cool shade of trees, I quickly forgot about the noise of the city.

🌷 Unforgettable Garden Moments

🌍 World Garden Zone – Like a Mini Trip Around the World
My first stop was the World Garden Zone.
The German garden had neat structures and roses, while the French garden’s pond and sculptures gave off a classic, elegant vibe.
The Thai garden was especially memorable — golden statues and exotic plants made me feel like I was standing in front of a Bangkok temple!
📸 Photo Tip: Benches and sculptures in each garden make for perfect Instagram-worthy shots. The Japanese garden with its maple trees is beautiful all year round!
🌊 Lake Garden – A Place That Soothes the Soul

In the heart of the garden lies a large lake, and it became my favorite spot.
As the wind blew, the shimmering waves sparkled and ducks paddled peacefully along the shore. Many people were walking the trail or reading on benches nearby.
I sat on a bench for a while, enjoying a snack while listening to soft classical music and birdsong — it was the ultimate healing moment.
🍃 Korean Garden & Mugunghwa Garden – Quiet Elegance

The Korean Garden felt completely different — with traditional walls, ponds, and pavilions reminiscent of a Joseon dynasty palace. It brought a deep sense of calm.
The Mugunghwa Garden, full of Korea's national flower in bloom, was also unforgettable. I’d never seen so many varieties of mugunghwa in one place before!
🎠 Great for Kids Too!

For families with children, there’s plenty to enjoy.
The “Wiggly Garden” (Green Island) has a fun insect-themed building with exhibits and activities, perfect for an educational trip. There's also a children's zoo near the entrance, where little ones can interact with animals and run around freely.
🍽 Food & Drinks

Inside the garden, you’ll find food truck zones and cafés for quick meals and drinks.
I had some coffee and ice cream at one of the garden cafés — so good! ☕🍦
While the cafés are nice, there aren't many full meal options, so I highly recommend packing a picnic.
There are lots of grassy spots and shaded areas ideal for a blanket and a homemade lunch 🍙
